My story
Breathwork found me
when I needed it most.
I didn’t begin with plans to become a breathwork teacher.
01
I had always been interested in Eastern philosophy, yin yoga and the different ways we can deal with stress. After COVID, burnout seemed to be everywhere. I saw it around me, and I felt the need to pay more attention to my own wellbeing and personal development.
My original idea was simple: take a short breathwork course, learn something useful and use it mainly for myself.
The only course I could find at short notice happened to be a full breathwork coaching programme. I thought, why not? If I was going to explore breathwork, I might as well understand it properly.
That decision took me much further than I expected.
The path
From curiosity
to practice
I became a certified breathwork coach at De Nieuwe Yogaschool in Amsterdam. I studied what can go wrong in breathwork with Kasper van der Meulen and explored pranayama through coursework with Michaël Bijker.
The formal training was only the beginning. I continue to read, study different breathing techniques and exchange knowledge and experiences with other practitioners. Breathwork is a broad field, and I don’t believe you ever really finish learning it.
During my training, I met someone who invited me to guide breathwork sessions at DankjeWellness, a sauna space surrounded by nature. That invitation changed the direction of everything.
What started as something personal gradually grew into group sessions, private work and breathwork at events and businesses. More recently, I joined The Calm Company in Leiden, where I guide breathwork experiences that can also include plant-based elements such as blue lotus, cacao or optional microdosing truffles.
I never expected it to grow this far. It happened one session and one invitation at a time.

nothing needs to be forced.
The approach
Grounded in what happens inside the body
What fascinates me most is what breathwork does physiologically.
How does changing the rhythm of your breathing affect the nervous system? Why can certain patterns create calm, energy or emotional release? What is happening when physical sensations begin to change?
I want people to understand those processes instead of simply being told that something powerful is happening.
My sessions are grounded in the body. There is space for emotion, intuition and personal meaning, but the teaching is not spiritually vague. I explain what we are doing, what you might experience and how you can use the breath to feel and live better.
You don’t need to believe in anything. You only need to breathe.
The experience
A journey carried
by music
Music is central to every session I create.
I spend a lot of time finding the right tracks and shaping them into a journey. No two sessions are exactly the same. The music might begin quietly and gradually build in rhythm, intensity and speed. The breathing follows a similar curve.
I often work with connected breathing and a rollercoaster-style technique. We may begin slowly, increase the pace as the session develops, reach a more intense point and then gradually return to stillness.
Your eyes are closed, but your ears remain open. The music gives the journey its landscape. The breath does the rest.
What you can expect
A guide,
not a guru.
I’m not here to play the guru or tell you what your experience should mean.
My role is to explain the practice clearly, create a safe setting and guide you through it with care. Your body sets the pace. Every experience is different, and there is no correct way to feel.
Some sessions are quiet. Others are energising or emotionally intense. What matters is that you have enough space to experience whatever comes up and return feeling more connected to yourself.
